Artist & Curator
The Painted Past is driven by an ongoing curiosity about what endures in art, long after the immediate circumstances of its creation have vanished. For me, history is not a closed book but a continuous stream that continues to inform studio practice today.
As an artist, my own work focuses heavily on structure, ruins, and the slow excavation of time from stone and canvas. I created this archive not as an objective historian, but as a painter looking over the shoulders of those who came before. Examining their methods, restraint, and search for the sublime helps contextualize contemporary efforts.
When you browse these exhibits, consider them a dialogue between the past and the present—an active engagement with the margins of art history and the profound silence embedded in timeless work.
This archive is an ongoing work.
Have a suggestion for an artist, or a thought to share about the archive? I'd be pleased to hear from you.
